Script requests are stored on our servers with the name and email address you give us so we can follow up. We will process your personal information lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner. We collect and process information about you only where we have legal bases for doing so.

Where possible, we will provide this information in CSV format or other easily readable machine format. You may request that we erase the personal information we hold about you at any time. Complaints: If you believe that we have breached a relevant data protection law and wish to make a complaint, please contact us and provide us with full details of the alleged breach. We will promptly investigate your complaint and respond to you, in writing, setting out the outcome of our investigation and the steps we will take to deal with your complaint. You also have the right to contact a regulatory body or data protection authority in relation to your complaint.

Unsubscribe: Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact us to be removed from our email list or to opt out of other communications.

7. Cookies and local storage

We use “cookies” and browser local storage to collect information about you and your activity across our site. A cookie is a small piece of data that our website stores on your computer, and accesses each time you visit, so we can understand how you use our site.

We use the following types of cookies and storage:

  • Advertising cookies: Advertising on our site is managed by Mediavine, which may set first and third-party cookies to serve and measure ads.   • Local storage: We store your preferences (such as theme selection, whether you have subscribed to or dismissed the newsletter prompt, and contact form choices) in your browser's local storage. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Our newsletter is delivered by Buttondown, a service based in the United States. When you sign up we send your name, email address, how you describe yourself, and the topics you are interested in directly to Buttondown, which stores them on our behalf. Buttondown also records the time you subscribed and the IP address the request came from.

Subscription uses double opt-in: after you sign up you will receive a confirmation email, and you are only added to the list once you click the link in it. Newsletter emails include tracking that tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked; we use this only to understand what readers find useful.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, and unsubscribing removes you from the list immediately. At ScriptSlug, we value the privacy and intellectual property of our users and contributors. We want to assure you that:

  1. Screenplays in Our Library: We do not use the screenplays in our library, including those that we do not own the copyright to, for training AI models. All screenplays are treated with the utmost respect for their creators' rights. This applies to all forms of AI, including but not limited to machine learning models, natural language processing algorithms, and any other automated systems.
  2. User Data: We do not use any user data, including personal information, browsing history, and any content submitted by users, for training AI models. Your privacy and the security of your data are our top priorities. We implement strict measures to ensure that your data is protected from unauthorized access and misuse.
  3. Third-Party Data Sharing: We do not share your data with third parties for the purpose of training AI models. Any third-party service providers we engage are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of your information.
  4. Policy Transparency and Updates: We are committed to transparency regarding our data usage policies. Any changes to this policy will be communicated to our users in a timely manner. We encourage you to review our privacy policy regularly to stay informed about how your data is protected.

11. Limits of our policy
